A.K.A. "Heidi Pie Restaurant"
1941 South El Camino Real
San Mateo, CA 94403
650.574.0505
Open 24 hours daily
---
Offers your standard American / diner fare (burgers, tuna melt, chicken fried steak, etc.) and, as the name suggests, a variety of pies. (Rhubarb! What the hell is rhubarb exactly, anyway? I don't know, but I like to run around shouting "rhubarb!" very excitedly!)
Not exactly wee hours haute cuisine, but at least it's not Denny's.
Easy access to/from Highway 92, it's about a block south of the exit.

Fri, February 25, 2005 - 9:34 AMI liked their pumpkin pies.. Very yummy.
Altho', I've never ever had their cheese cake pie -- a strange concept to try out 'cause it's always been nyc cheesecake style. -

Re: Peninsula: Heidi's Pie Shop
Wed, August 24, 2005 - 12:55 PMI attend a monthly dance event in San Mateo, and have given up on Heidi's Pies. The place is usually crowded, the service can be really poor, and the food isn't any better than Denny's, except the pies. -

Re: Peninsula: Heidi's Pie Shop
Sat, August 27, 2005 - 3:53 PMUgh. I finally tried this place after a late night of poker with friends.
Heidi's Pies is nasty. Service was piss poor. The selection of pies we ordered weren't even that special.
The thing that got me: they dropped the ball on their blueberry pie. How is that possible? I know crappy restaurants that don't even serve good regular menu items but at least they have a good blueberry pie.
As bad as Denny's is, at least it's not Heidi's Pies. -

Re: Peninsula: Heidi's Pie Shop
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 1:05 PMHeidi's Pies is a nice little local joint that makes great pies. We frequented this place when I was a kid. I agree with almost everything previously stated and emphasize that they make grrreat pies. They are open late for late-night munchers... munch away!!! -

Re: Peninsula: Heidi's Pie Shop
Fri, June 8, 2007 - 6:31 PMHeidi's has been around for forever. Seems like they've been around well before the Marie Callendars, the Nations and the Bakers Squares sprouted up.
