Buster's (Columbus at Vallejo, SF)

Located in the heart of North Beach and open during normal hours too, Buster's gets a lot of Late Night business with all the bars/cafes in the area.

Serving burgers/cheesesteaks/pizza till the wee hours (usually 2am, although I've seen it stay open till after 3am a few weekends)...

Haven't tried their pizzas, but their fries are pretty good. Crispy like the McDonald's fries used to be, but with the right amount of salt.

Cheese steaks are good. Burgers are decent. It's nothing mindblowing, but then again, what can you really expect at a joint that's open so late?

Much better alternative than the not-enough-sauce pizzas at Cable Car Pizza and the mediocre food at New Sun Hong Kong and the barely-edible-mush at Yuet Lee. The combo pho and the 5-spice chicken at Vietnam 1 still trump the lousy NB options...

    UPDATE 2006-10-23:

Buster's is still going strong. I had what they call a "California Cheesesteak" the other night and it was actually pretty good. My buddy John swears by their burgers, and said that the ones he recently ordered were well prepared both during lunch, and late night, hours.
